From a €50 logo
to fintech platforms

I’m Zejneba, a product designer from Bosnia. Here’s the short version of how I found my way into design, and a few things you probably won’t find in my case studies.

The person
behind the pixels

I got into design pretty early, mostly because I liked making things look better and figuring out why some things just felt easier to use than others. I didn’t really know that could become a career at the time. I was just curious, watched a lot of tutorials and kept making things.

My first paid project was a €50 logo and menu while I was still studying. I remember being ridiculously proud of it. Not because of the amount, but because someone had trusted me enough with their business.

That eventually turned into working with different teams and products across fintech, healthcare, B2B and a few things in between. Somewhere along the way I realised I’m happiest when the problem is a little messy at the beginning and I get to understand how everything works before trying to make it simpler.

I’m also the type of person who asks a lot of questions. Sometimes probably too many. I like knowing what happens behind the screen, how the business works, what developers are dealing with and why something needs to exist in the first place. That curiosity is one of the things that have stayed the same since I started.

These days, most of my work is around fintech and more complex digital products, but I still approach it pretty much the same way I did at the beginning: learn, ask questions, make something, see what works and improve it.

Life outside
of Figma

Airports are probably my favourite kind of place. I love travelling, I don’t mind a long layover, and hearing a plane above me is usually enough to make me open FlightRadar.

Outside of that, I love Formula 1, going to the gym, cooking, and spending time at home with my husband. My evenings usually involve talking about the future, tech, finance, ideas, or whatever random topic has our attention that week, usually over coffee.
